“Take control of your health with a unique and personalized approach.”

Traditional Chinese osteopathy, or Tuina, is an integrative approach that combines the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with manual techniques, without the use of acupuncture needles. The term “Tuina” blends the characters “Tui” (push) and “Na” (grasp), which are central to the manipulations used to release blockages, improve circulation, and restore bodily balance. Tuina sessions incorporate various TCM tools such as moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, herbal medicine, and Chinese physical culture, also known as Gongfu. In addition to these techniques, craniosacral therapy is often used at the end of the session to address subtle tensions, calm the nervous system, and extend the benefits of the treatment. Tuina addresses both the musculoskeletal system and internal organs, making it a holistic approach complementary to acupuncture, physiotherapy, and therapeutic massage, promoting overall healing and well-being.

Jean-François Dupuis,
Tuina Therapist (AQTN)
Gongfu Instructor (NATSTA)

I began studying internal martial arts and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in February 2009, under the guidance of Ethan Murchie. My interest in Tuina quickly grew, and I started practicing professionally in 2013, transitioning to full-time in 2015. That same year, I earned my Gongfu (kung fu) instructor certification through the North American Tang Shou Tao Association (NATSTA). Since then, I have been working with clients at the center and continue to study and teach internal martial arts, integrating my knowledge to provide a holistic and beneficial approach to my patients.

Over the years, I have continued to enrich my skills through my teacher and various TCM seminars, as well as ongoing professional development. I am a certified massage therapist and Tuina therapist with the Association Québécoise des Thérapeutes Naturels (AQTN). After each session, I provide a massage therapy receipt for insurance purposes.

Additionally, I serve as the coordinator of the CRGM clinic and have been co-directing the martial arts school for several years.

For which issues can Tuina and Traditional Chinese Medicine be beneficial?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been the dominant approach to treating illnesses in China for over 2,000 years. In this sense, it is a complete and pragmatic system, based on simple and observable principles. It is designed to address a wide range of everyday issues, and it is difficult (and limiting) to attempt to name all its possibilities.
